Help Needed in my Creams and Greens Quilt Progress

Hi I'm linking up to WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced today. I'm in need of some help and opinions from my fellow quilters !!

A good deal of progress has been made on my greens and creams quilt. It's now fully pieced and the back of the quilt has also been done. The back features one large heart with the recipients name and birthday embroidered on it and there are ten other smaller cream hearts randomly around the central one. The idea is that each of the family members write in these 'blank' hearts a message of love for their sister (the recipient). What a lovely  idea.

So now I'll get to my problem. I have quilted around each of the hearts and I have also quilted around the  border. I think it looks good at that because in this case the back of the quilt is as important as the front. I love the look of the back with just the border done but wonder should I do more quilting in the center or just leave it as is? I think is will be secure enough but what do you think?

Any comments will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks :)

  1. I'd leave it as it is. I think it's just smashing.

  4. Maybe quilt in some FMQ hearts?! It is a great sentiment of a quilt--such a fabulous idea you had!

  5. Hi Sara, I can take no credit for the idea of writing the messages. This is what the lady requested. Well actually she wanted me to leave 10 blank squares somewhere on the quilt top, but I wasn't too keen of having it on the front. So she had a think and said I could put the blank squares on the back. So I hope that she is happy with what I have done with the hearts on the back! Thank you for your advice on the FMQ hearts. I've started to bind it as is and I'll have a better idea of have stable it is. Thanks again

  6. I think it's fabulous as it is! Leave well alone now!! I've quilted just mainly in the border before now, and the quilts are still going strong!!

  7. Thanks Kirstie and that's great to hear about the quilts that are still going strong. I've just finished binding it so I will see what it looks like in daylight! I'll post photos of the finished article tomorrow. Thanks again for the info.
